Parenting

Two people in a kitchen, one gesturing with hands wearing a hearing aid, the other listening attentively, conveying communication or sign language use.

Our nationwide Parenting service specialises in working with families with deafness. This can be deaf parents with deaf or hearing children or hearing parents with deaf children. Our aim is to create better parenting through access to information, advice and support.

Our Parenting Mentors are deaf, and fully trained in parenting skills, with significant experience of frontline Children and Family work.

We cater for many different communication needs including: British Sign Language (BSL), Sign Supported English (SSE), speech and lipreading, Deafblind communication and visual methods.

We provide direct support to meet a family’s educational and cultural needs.
